I went through a very long interview process that felt thorough but also stretched out enough that it started to test my patience.

I started with a recruiter phone screen, then had a technical interview with an engineer, and then a phone call with the hiring manager.

After that came a take-home assignment with five days to complete it. The company’s codebase was all in TypeScript, and while early interviews didn’t require TypeScript knowledge, the take-home and the onsite interviews ended up being 100% in TypeScript. Onsite, I had one engineer interview, lunch with the team, and then two more interviews—one with my hiring manager and one with a different hiring manager.

I didn’t get an offer. What stayed with me most
