Plaid Software Engineer interview experience

Negative

United StatesPosted Oct 2018 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My onsite interviews focused heavily on algorithms and involved a very awkward pair-programming style where the interviewers would mostly stare and ask you questions rather than truly collaborate.

The vibe felt tense and transactional.

I also got an impression of the company culture that didn’t gel with me, and it carried through the way the interviews felt—especially given how little the conversations resembled a supportive engineering discussion.

I ended up with an offer, but looking back, that offer didn’t fully cancel out the uncomfortable feel of the onsite and the culture signals I picked up during the process.
