Pinterest Machine Learning Engineer interview experience

RemoteCandidate report, summarized by Dataford

I finished a Pinterest virtual onsite for an MLE role that ended up being five separate interviews.

The day itself was broken into distinct segments: one focused on ML practitioner depth, one dedicated to ML system design, two coding/DSA rounds, and one behavioral interview. It felt like the interviewers were intentionally covering the full range of what they care about for the role, not just theory or not just implementation.

The practitioner and system design parts pushed beyond straightforward answers, and the two DSA/coding rounds kept me in a constant problem-solving mindset for long stretches. Between that and the behavioral session, there wasn’t a lot of downtime to mentally reset.
