I got contacted by a recruiter and did an initial phone call, and then I moved into a video technical interview.

I walked in knowing I hadn’t prepared as well as I needed to, and the interview confirmed it—this one felt difficult.

The coding problem wasn’t straightforward, and it was the kind of task where timing mattered. It also felt like the only way to finish in time was to have practiced similar problems beforehand, not just rely on general knowledge.

I didn’t end up getting an offer. The biggest thing that surprised me was how much the interview depended on familiarity with the right style of coding, not just correctness in theory.
