I went through a phone screen that ended abruptly after a compensation question.

Recruiter/phone screen — I discussed my background and fit for the software engineer role, and the interviewer asked some good questions; it shifted when they asked how much I was making at my current job. When I declined to share, they told me they couldn’t proceed without that information. Outcome: I didn’t move forward, and it left me frustrated about how the process handled compensation disclosure.
