My process started with a phone call that was somewhat relaxed, then it moved into a programming challenge.

After I finished the initial challenge, I was given the option to take a new challenge and disregard the current one.

I didn’t take that option, and looking back I felt like that choice cost me—I would’ve benefited from switching contexts and improving my odds with the new prompt. Everything happened virtually, so it was all fairly straightforward in logistics.

In the end, I wasn’t selected for the next step. The biggest surprise was how much leverage that “second challenge” option might have provided, even though it was presented as something I could choose on the spot.
