Oracle Software Engineer interview experience

IC2Posted Dec 2025 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I went through an interview loop for an SMTS position at Oracle OCI that was targeted at an IC3 level.

I came in with around five years of experience and a strong background, so I expected the role to land where it was originally described.

After the full round of interviews, the panel decided to allocate me at a lower level—IC2 instead of IC3. It wasn’t a straight rejection, but it also didn’t match the specific level I was interviewing for.

The main thing I remember was how the decision changed after the loop finished. I left with mixed feelings: I got a placement, but it wasn’t the level I had prepared for, and that mismatch colored how I interpreted the process.
