Optum Software Engineer interview experience

The panel leaned a lot on coding accuracy, guideline knowledge, and how adaptable I was during the conversation. It didn’t come across like they were looking for a perfect performance in isolation; it felt like they wanted evidence I could handle real-world constraints.

A big theme was medical guidelines, where having the relevant guideline knowledge down cold mattered, and I was also expected to be confident using medical terminology. What I appreciated most was how the discussion connected those areas to practical problem-solving.
