My initial phone screen was a friendly chat with the hiring contact.

It was mostly reflective questions like why I wanted the role and an overview of my background and projects. It didn’t feel adversarial, more like an introduction and a way to understand my fit.

The second call was more technical and came from an engineer who was hiring for their team. There were three interview questions, but they were phrased in a confusing, cryptic way that made it hard to parse what was being asked. Looking back, two of the questions were about SQL optimization and another was about CSS, but during the call the intent wasn’t as clear as I would have expected.
