I started with a friendly phone screening where the conversation quickly turned to how my experience matched the specific research area.

The recruiter and the interviewer gave a clear overview of the lab and the role, and they asked both about what I’d been doing and what skills I had (and didn’t have) that would matter for the work.

It didn’t feel like a stressful interrogation. The most noticeable part was that the presentation component was part of the early process, and the questions stayed anchored to my background rather than generic prompts. Overall, the whole flow felt satisfying and well scoped to the job.
