My interview was set up as a system software-style conversation that lasted about an hour, mixing coding with system design.

After I explained my approach clearly, I felt like the back-and-forth was productive—enough that I was honestly surprised when I later heard it ended in rejection.

What stuck with me was how much the interview emphasized being able to communicate tradeoffs and thinking structure, not just getting to a working implementation. Even though I felt it went well in the moment, the final decision didn’t match that impression.

In the end, I wasn’t selected, and the main thing I was left wanting was feedback on what specifically missed the mark.
