I had a short technical screen with a senior engineer that started with a quick intro and then moved into a timed coding challenge.

After that, there were follow-up questions where I tried to justify the choices I made while solving the problem. I believed my reasoning was solid, and I claimed I had an optimal solution, but I still got rejected.

What stuck with me was the way the interview ended on an evaluation of solution quality despite my confidence. The overall session was fairly standard in structure, but it felt like they were looking for something specific in how the solution was framed and verified.
