This Zoom interview didn’t go smoothly from the start.

The person I was speaking with was barely understandable, and I had to ask for repetition multiple times.

The technical question was to spawn a job from a Spring Boot REST service, and they specifically wanted it done using an ExecutorService rather than approaches like @Async or scheduling annotations. Even though the task itself sounded doable, the communication and what I felt was confusion on the interviewer’s side made it frustrating.

I didn’t receive an offer. What I remember most wasn’t the technical bar so much as the overall lack of clarity in how the discussion was run.
