My experience started in an unexpected way: there was no recruiter HR call, and instead the hiring manager directly asked about my attempts at something labeled as SOA and the grades I got, right out of the blue.

It was unusual because I hadn’t volunteered that, and it wasn’t just a quick transcript request.

That single conversation set the tone immediately—it didn’t feel like a normal intro-first flow. The focus turned to a very specific academic detail, and it caught me off guard because it wasn’t connected to anything I’d prepared to go deep on.

I didn’t move forward from there, but I still remember it as a strange, abrupt first step compared to what I expected from an engineering interview process.
