McLean, VAPosted Nov 2010 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I was genuinely qualified on paper for the role—the resume details matched what the position described, and I had more years of experience than what they were asking for.

Even so, I was turned down, and the reason they gave felt questionable to me.

They said I didn’t know a specific software that could allegedly be learned in just three to four hours. The explanation came off as thin and almost insulting, especially given the match between my experience and the job description. After that, I ended up feeling frustrated about how the hiring process was operating and wondered what criteria they were actually using to make decisions.
