Microsoft Software Engineer interview experience

Only one of the interviews was a LeetCode-style coding problem in the easy-medium range; the other parts leaned much more heavily into personal questions, leadership themes, and design patterns.

Even though the conversations were respectful and I felt the interviewers were trying to evaluate my reasoning, it ultimately came down to experience level. I didn’t get the offer, and the feedback vibe was that someone else had more relevant depth. Walking out, I felt like I communicated well and showed how I think, but I couldn’t overcome the gap in experience they were searching for.
