Microsoft Software Engineer interview experience

Posted Jan 2026 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

After completing an OA, I was invited into a smaller hiring-drive sequence where two rounds were scheduled on the day of the drive.

The first was an LLD round that started with a brief intro, and then the interviewer steered into an HLD/LLD topic that felt intentionally a bit vague—centered on designing an extensible rate limiter. The discussion also turned into logistics and my background: which team I was targeting, what platform I had used for coding in the OA, and details about how long it took after submitting documents to reach the final offer. At the end of that round, I also got asked about where I had learned resources for design round prep.
