I went through a Microsoft onsite for an SWE-2 role and it ended up being five interviews total across the day: two system design rounds and two coding rounds.

The system design topics were actually easier than I expected going in, and I had enough confidence walking through my thought process.

The coding rounds went really well on the problems I was given—I solved them, handled edge cases, and I walked through both brute force and an optimal approach. After I finished, I explained an example and felt pretty prepared to discuss improvements. The interviewers seemed satisfied with what I delivered, especially once I asked whether there was anything specific to adjust.
