I went through a five-round structure that felt common for Microsoft at this level: screening, DSA, lower-level design, higher-level design, and then a managerial discussion.

The interviewers were mixing general behavioral questions, but I also had moments where they revisited problem-style thinking or pushed into deeper aspects of design.

The design rounds were what stood out most. DSA questions covered areas like arrays, strings, or dynamic programming and were generally medium in difficulty, but the real challenge was that I needed a deep understanding of design to do well on LLD and HLD. Even when the coding itself felt doable, the design expectations required more than surface-level descriptions.
