Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

I had a phone screen for a senior SWE role, and it was pretty straightforward in the sense that it matched a known pattern I’d heard about.

About half of it was a deep dive into my project work, and the other half was a coding question.

I felt like I nailed both parts during the call—I executed through the tests, wrote the code in an optimal way, and the interviewer seemed satisfied. So when I got an email about three weeks later saying they weren’t moving forward, it really didn’t make sense to me.

I ended up getting rejected, and the main reflection I had afterward was that the in-call cues didn’t align with the final decision.
