McKinsey & Business Analyst interview experience

The case work was the part that hit hardest for me: the questions were pretty brutal, and it wasn’t just about getting to an answer—it was about pulling out distinctive insights from the data they handed over.

What surprised me was the overall tone. I didn’t feel like everyone was consistently warm or kind, and that made the pressure feel higher than the difficulty level alone. I also noticed that they were listening for specificity, not just “reasonable” interpretations. By the end, I left feeling like I’d been pushed to perform at a high bar, but I hadn’t made it to an offer.
