Los Angeles, CAPosted Dec 2025 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

My process was pretty straightforward: I had a phone call first and then an exam.

The phone call felt easy and focused on basic questions like why McKinsey, what I knew about the firm, and why I was looking to leave my job.

The exam was the hard part. I didn’t prepare enough for it, and that showed—everything felt more difficult because I wasn’t ready for the level of challenge.

I didn’t receive an offer. Looking back, the experience was a reminder that even when the first conversation is comfortable, the assessment step can decide the whole outcome when prep is missing.
