I first spoke with HR and I had a month of silence after follow-up emails, so I ended up applying again.

This second time the process led to an interview with the CEO.

The CEO conversation echoed what I’d heard before: it quickly centered on what he could pay, and my salary expectations didn’t fit. For what sounded like a full-stack or backend role, he offered a low hourly rate and tried to recast me as more junior than my experience indicated. He also pushed the idea that a corp-to-corp setup meant fewer taxes, and when I challenged the mismatch with what I expected, the call ended quickly. That experience alone made me decide not to pursue things further.
