After I was initially contacted, my sequence of conversations stretched over more than one stage.

I started with a recruiter call where I understood the role and then followed up with another recruiter call. The next week I interviewed with two hiring managers, and later I was asked for two references.

Some time after that, I returned for an additional interview that involved a manager, a vice president, and an engineer. That last conversation included an engineer who came across as arrogant in how they spoke. The overall journey didn’t feel smoothly paced—there were pauses between stages, and by the final round the interpersonal dynamic mattered more than I expected.
