I had a phone interview for a mid fullstack developer role.

We talked about my background and professional experience, and they specifically asked about my experience with test-driven development. I explained what I had done, but I was rejected because I didn’t have TDD experience.

The process felt very focused on that specific requirement. Even though I discussed my overall work, it came down to whether I could check that one box.

I didn’t receive an offer. My reflection was that the decision felt predetermined around TDD rather than based on a broader assessment of my full skill set.
