My interview didn’t end up going the way I’d hoped, and the main reason was how uneven it felt.

I went into the process and the interviewer mainly asked HR-style questions, without digging much into technical topics.

The whole interaction was still friendly, so I didn’t feel treated poorly or anything like that. What frustrated me was the contrast with how my friends described their technical coverage—those who were selected apparently got more DSA-focused questions. In the end, I didn’t get selected, and I left feeling like I hadn’t been evaluated in the same technical way that mattered for the role.
