My first contact was a phone interview with HR, but the job description they provided felt pretty vague and more direct than conversational.

The next phone conversation was with the hiring manager, and the tone was even more straightforward—there wasn’t much in the way of softening the questions or building a rapport.

Then I went in person to interview with six people. The environment caught me off guard right away: one interviewer showed up about twenty minutes late and was dressed in sneakers, and I was even reminded to dress in business attire. The hiring manager also seemed unsure about how to run the test he created, and I ended up watching them scramble a bit about how it should be administered.
