I went into a 30-minute phone screen and it started out fine.

The interviewer was terse but still engaged enough through the main part of the conversation.

What I noticed most was how the tone changed near the end. When I asked questions about the firm, the interviewer gave very short answers and didn’t really try to hide their disinterest.

I didn’t get an offer, and honestly the interview left me with the feeling that my questions weren’t welcome—despite the earlier portion going okay.
