Hudson River Trading Software Engineer interview experience

The interviewer essentially tested me on a narrow set of problems they were clearly expert in: if I had the exact answer to what they focused on, it went fine; if not, I was quickly passed on. The interviewer didn’t seem to learn much about my broader skills during the conversation.

It ended without an offer. The experience was memorable because the process didn’t feel like a holistic evaluation—it felt like a high-confidence fit check for a small number of technical scenarios. That made the outcome feel more random than I’d expected going in.
