After applying through a college career portal, I had a recruiter interaction that felt unusually pleasant.

The first interview was on campus and leaned heavily on C++ knowledge, with some easier algorithm questions mixed in.

A phone screen followed, and it threw me off: the questions were mostly about C rather than C++. I hadn’t expected that language shift at that stage, and it made the whole round feel misaligned with the first interview.

I didn’t get an offer, but the most memorable part was how different the technical focus became between the in-person campus round and the phone screen.
