Hudson River Trading Full Stack Engineer interview experience

The task was framed as something required ahead of interviews, and it ended up feeling like a poor use of time relative to the work the role would actually involve.

One question was to recreate a game like Minesweeper in React. The other question covered patterns and paradigms that felt largely irrelevant to the software engineering work I’d expect to do there. I only managed to complete one of the two problems within the time limit. I didn’t get an offer, and what I remember most was how much the process front-loaded time cost without any real collaboration or adjustment once I got stuck.
