I started with a recruiter screening call that felt pretty straightforward—mostly basic fit and getting a sense of my background.

A short time later, I moved to a director interview on Zoom for about 30 minutes. That conversation was centered on my experiences, why the firm, and where I wanted my career to go, and I remember it feeling conversational and positive.

After that, I didn’t make it to the next step and ended up getting rejected. Even though the director call went well, I still walked away feeling like the process moved faster than I expected and that there was a lot riding on how they compared my story to what they were looking for.
