I had a virtual interview with a team manager where the conversation leaned almost entirely on my past experience, my interests, and some high-level team goals.

There wasn’t much technical discussion at all, which surprised me because I expected more direct software engineering questions.

It didn’t progress beyond that manager interview. Even though the conversation felt normal and straightforward, I didn’t get an offer afterward, and I was left thinking that the evaluation might have been based more on fit and direction than on whether I could prove technical depth in that stage.
