HCL Software Engineer interview experience

United KingdomPosted Nov 2023 · Candidate report, summarized by Dataford

The first stage interview felt like a coordinator-style role, with the technical work allegedly happening from another location.

But then the second-stage interview changed tone completely—during that call, the interviewer was rude and unprofessional, repeatedly focusing on subjective self-rating questions.

It didn’t feel like a fair assessment of skills. Instead, it felt awkward and contradictory relative to the earlier description of the role, and I left questioning the intent behind the interview.

I didn’t get an offer, and my reflection was blunt: the process felt unethical and unreliable in how it matched the role description to the expectations during interviews.
