My process started with a phone screen with a recruiter, and that part actually helped because the conversation felt reassuring.

After the call, I received a link to a technical coding challenge hosted on Codility.

The coding portion ended up being the make-or-break stage. I didn’t pass, and I saw automated rejection after spending time on the assessment. One time it felt especially brutal because I’d put in a meaningful chunk of time for the test without getting any constructive feedback back afterwards.

In another round, the coding test itself included problems that covered string work and more difficult problem solving, and I scored poorly overall because I didn’t manage my approach well enough and ran out of time
