Google DeepMind Research Engineer interview experience

I had two Google Hangouts-style calls—one centered on motivation and background, and the other was a technical coding challenge.

Even though the interviewers were friendly, the setup itself made the experience feel more stressful than the technical difficulty alone.

The coding part required running work in a Jupyter notebook while also staying on a video call, so I was constantly juggling screen/runner issues and the conversational flow at the same time. That friction made it harder to settle into problem-solving.

I didn’t end up going further, and the experience highlighted how logistics can noticeably affect how cleanly a technical interview feels, even with good-faith interviewers.
