I cleared an initial coding round, and then I moved into another interview that didn’t go well.

The question felt random and didn’t match what I expected for the role or my scope, and I couldn’t bring my strengths to bear on it. Because of that mismatch, I wasn’t selected afterward.

What I took away was that even after passing the first technical gate, the next step can still derail quickly if the prompt feels out of alignment. The rejection came without much ceremony, but the technical mismatch was the clearest reason behind it.
