My first step was an HR phone call that focused on personality fit and motivation.

The conversation went through my background, what I was looking for, and how I described strengths and weaknesses. It felt friendly and fairly low-pressure.

After that, I was still waiting for results, and I never reached a technical stage in the version of the process I experienced. My reflection was that it was a sensible first screen—just not enough information to understand whether the fit would carry into the more technical rounds.
