I had a structured multi-step process with an unusual home assignment, and it ended in silence after I completed it early.

Recruiter phone screen — an initial call with the recruiter.
Zoom with group manager — a group-manager conversation via Zoom.
Onsite technical interview — an interview with the team lead on-site.
Home assignment — a take-home task delivered as part of the process.
Zoom to discuss assignment — a Zoom discussion intended to review the home work. Outcome: I received positive feedback that I passed, but scheduling the next steps stalled and I never got a response, so I didn’t progress despite doing the assignment early.
