After applying through the posting, I got pulled into a fairly structured sequence: a virtual prerecorded screen first, then a technical interview focused largely on coding, and finally a behavioral round.

The prerecorded part was recorded responses to common non-technical prompts, and it set the tone that the process would be standardized.

A little later I had the coding-focused technical interview where the emphasis was on writing solutions clearly and talking through my approach. It didn’t feel like trick questions so much as “show your work” coding, and I also had a separate behavioral interview that leaned into STAR-style stories and how I handled difficult situations.

Across the whole loop, what stood out was how consistent the behavioral questioning was with GM’s standard prompt style.
