G-Research Quantitative Researcher interview experience

The coding part was a medium-level greedy algorithm problem based on a LeetCode-style prompt, where I had to write efficient code, analyze complexity, and talk through potential optimizations. The other part was a statistics scenario where I had to interpret a dataset or setup, apply relevant statistical methods, and explain what the results meant.

It was a straightforward but high-expectation setup: they wanted both correct implementation and the ability to reason about performance and meaning, not just get to an answer. I ended up getting an offer, and what I’ll remember most is that it
