G-Research Software Engineer interview experience

After the initial conversation, I had medium-complexity coding questions that felt like the typical HackerRank-style exercises, followed by a system design discussion on a whiteboard. Later, I did a real-life coding problem and finally a behavioural interview with a manager about motivations and goals.

Overall the process felt structured and “engineering interview” shaped, with a mix of coding and design rather than only algorithms. The pace stayed consistent: each stage built on the previous one, so it didn’t feel like I was guessing what would come next. I remember walking into the design
