I interviewed for a Software Engineer role in a case-interview format that was difficult; I had a 1-on-1 session centered on how I analyze engineering problems.

1:1 remote behavioral + case — I walked through details of my research and then completed a case interview about my approach to analyzing an engineering problem (including explaining underlying physics concepts). They probed how I think and reason rather than just what final answer I reached. Outcome: I didn’t receive an offer; the takeaway was to practice explaining your analytical process out loud, not just the conclusion.
