I interviewed for a Software Engineer role that felt easy-to-average, starting with HR questions and (in one case) a very basic, application-like screening.

HR interview — I discussed my education, background, interests, skills, future expectations, and salary.
Phone screening (HR) — I also had a phone screen that was hard to flow due to poor audio; they asked only very basic questions about relevant experience and years. Outcome: I didn’t get an offer; the takeaway is that the early HR stage can be lightweight and feel more like filtering than a deep discussion.
