I had an unusual timeline for the software engineering process: after initial phone/video conversations, long silence followed before an offer email appeared.

Initial phone chat — a first conversation about my background and technical areas.
Skype follow-up (~1 week later) — another chat where we mostly discussed technical issues.
Extended delay — then nothing for several months aside from emails saying the recruitment process was progressing slowly.
Offer by email — suddenly I received an offer without further live rounds. Outcome: I got an offer; the key lesson was that the process timing was unpredictable even when the technical fit seemed discussed.
