I experienced a short but very intense screening for a software engineering role that stopped after paper-based algorithm questions.

Technical interview (project-focused) — a direct start with discussion of my last project and my experience.
On-the-board problem — a live coding/solution attempt on a board.
Paper-based algorithmic questions — two highly technical algorithm problems solved on paper for over an hour without any inputs or ability to collaborate. Outcome: The process ended early without an offer; the takeaway was that the interview pivoted quickly to sustained, input-free algorithm problem solving.
