My first coding interview was an online session using Codility, and it was my introduction to the whole format.

They gave me three questions with two hours to complete them, and I felt like the test was quite fair. The best part was that the questions were set up so that doing well didn’t require writing huge amounts of code—it was more about knowing the right algorithms than brute-forcing it.

I worked through it within the time limit and tried to keep my approach clean. Even though I thought it went reasonably well, I wasn’t able to move forward to an offer. The lingering feeling was that the round tested the right skills, even if it didn’t lead to the result I wanted.
