My phone screen was built around live coding, but the content leaned more toward probability and statistics than traditional programming.

Even when the questions were presented as coding-style, they were essentially theoretical and probability-driven.

It was also a proctored setup: ten questions total, with only six minutes allotted per question. The time pressure made it feel much more intense than a normal interview, because there wasn’t room to think slowly or revise how I was approaching the problem.

Overall it was difficult, and I didn’t receive an offer. What stayed with me was how quickly the pacing moved and how reliant it was on knowing the theory well enough to execute under strict timing.
