I didn’t feel like the interview was bad—I just hadn’t used advanced tree data structures in a while.

The result was that I struggled to assemble the right approach under the pressure of the session.

That said, I still did well in the way I talked through my steps and explained my reasoning as I worked toward a solution. The conversation seemed to reward clarity and the ability to articulate thought process, even when I couldn’t confidently implement from memory.

I ended up receiving an offer from this process. Looking back, the interview felt fair in the sense that even with a knowledge gap, explaining what I was doing and why mattered enough to help my chances.
