I went into the AE process hoping to transition into software sales, but the interviews quickly turned into a mismatch conversation that left me discouraged.

Recruiter screen + hiring manager interview — I was contacted after applying, then scheduled directly with the hiring manager.
Hiring manager discussion — we discussed what makes a successful candidate, and I was told that SaaS selling experience was important for the role. Outcome: No offer, and the takeaway was that they weren’t flexible about prior software sales experience despite my prep.
